ARCHITECTURE PROFILE: Architectural assistant, Lucy Lundberg shares her experience on her year’s placement at Rural Solutions

architecture, architectural assistant, placement year, rural solutions, rural development, colleaguesLucy has now completed her year in industry with Rural Solutions, we asked her to tell us about her time with us.

I began my Part 1 architecture placement with Rural Solutions in September 2017 after graduating from the University of Liverpool. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working here. The projects I have been involved in are so diverse, giving me valuable experience across a huge range of areas and putting skills learnt during my degree into practice.

The responsibility I’ve been given has been great, allowing me to be heavily involved in design processes which, along with support from colleagues in the architecture department, has hugely expanded my knowledge and understanding of the profession.

The Rural Solutions team is a friendly and sociable bunch, which made it easy to fit in straight away and the office a fun place to work. My time here has taught me to be more confident and efficient in my work, which I’m hoping will be greatly advantageous going forward on my journey to becoming an architect. In September, I start my Part 2 master’s degree at Newcastle University, and although I am sad to leave Rural Solutions, I am excited to begin the next stage!

Head of Architecture, Malcolm Birks said ‘Lucy has been a greatly valued member of the team during her time here. We have loved having her and being able to help her as part of her training, we hope she will remember her time at RSL fondly and that it has given her the skills she needs to continue successfully in her career. Wishing her all the very best for the future.’
