The best thing about working at Rural… One year on, my time at RSL has been a breath of fresh air. The breadth of knowledge across Planning, Architecture and Advisory teams is unrivalled; on every project there are new opportunities to learn and gain experience on all things ‘rural’.
Of course, the people make the team and there is a real positive team vibe.

My favourite project so far… There is a huge variety…more recently I’ve been involved a number of larger strategic land schemes for residential development, but I think my favourite scheme is a little closer to home in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A charming barn conversion that allows three generations of the same family to live alongside each other. There were some initial challenges owing to the sites isolated, rural environment but those factors are exactly what makes the finished product – a five bedroom family home – so special. I’ve been involved from the outset and it is immensely satisfying seeing the ‘human side’ of what we do, pay off.

If you gave up your day job… Travel the world’s sporting venues, music venues, beaches and landmarks. In a nut shell… I’d explore!

When you’re not planning, you’re… Running around like a headless chicken after my little boy Jacob! And when time allows I’m a Bradford City season ticket holder, ‘semi-mobile’ six-aside player, social golfer and fair weather hiker.

Something we may not know about you… Having started out as a town planner my career took an interesting turn which resulted in me working offshore on a Dive Support Vessel for four years! Following our wedding and with my wife Lizzie expecting our first child, I returned to my career ‘on land’ and re-kindled my passion for planning.
