After months of planning and design work, we are excited to announce the successful permission of an extraordinary new eco-house located in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The architectural design delivered by the Rural Solutions team is structured around a ribbon of dry stone walling which traverses down the site, in keeping with the local landscape. These create a tiered house which flows from bedrooms to the rear to the main living space and then on to a large terrace and ornamental pool. The contemporary design comprises of a second phase of development on the client’s landholding, following consent for an earlier residential development of more traditional dwellings nearby. The house is consciously set low into the site and built into the hillside to ensure minimal visual impact on the landscape.
Head of Architecture, Malcolm Birks says ‘The eco-house type is one that Rural Solutions is very excited to be able to create and develop. The concept encompasses a range of environmental features, including ground source heating, a green roof, rainwater harvesting, heat recovery and the use of sustainable materials.’
‘Working together with senior planner, James Ellis, we are delighted to have managed to obtain this permission for our clients who are now looking to commence construction in the next few months’.
