Planning permission was granted for 4 new low carbon dwellings of sympathetic design within the historic walled garden for one 5 bedroom and three 4 bedroom houses.
Solar panels will provide heated hot water for the properties along with a ground source heat pump to give background under floor heating. Zero carbon wood stoves will give secondary heating and sheep’s wool and newspaper insulation will help to retain this heat. Rain water harvesting will recycle the water for all non-potable uses
The sale of these new dwellings will enable conservation and maintenance of other listed Estate buildings and grounds.
Discharge of planning conditions is underway in readiness for implementation of the scheme.
