PROGRESS AT NIDDERDALE AONB ECO-HOUSE

Slider

An eco-house in Nidderdale is under construction and its design is a testament to the skills of the combined Rural Solution team.  The unusual landscape-driven design was fully supported and approved by the local planning authority who embraced the contemporary design in a rural village location.  Set within a hillside location, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house nestles into the sloping site and cascades downwards, creating the impression that it is part of the landscape.  A ribbon of dry-stone wall forms the backbone to the building, reflecting the vernacular of the dry-stone walls inherent in the Yorkshire Dales landscape.

This energy-efficient house incorporates sedum roofs, thermal massing, high insulation levels and a geo-thermal heat pump, all of which were an integral part of the detailed design carried out by the Rural Solutions design team. The developing construction of the building is proving to be as exciting as the original concept and we look forward to showing you the finished article.
