CURRENT VACANCIES

Rural Solutions are looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Architectural Assistant to join our busy Skipton office. We cover a diverse range of projects across the UK for a range of clients, with many sites located within challenging and sensitive environments.  You will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team of rural specialists including advisory consultants, planners, architects and ecologists. You will assist with the design of a range of projects across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, leisure and conservation work. There is the opportunity to become a project design lead as appropriate. Our work includes a series of high-spec, one-off private houses, as well as day visitor attractions, holiday accommodation and farm shops.

Core skills required:

  • Construction Detailing
  • Building Design
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations
  • 2D CAD skills (Autocad)
  • InDesign

Desirable additional skills:

  • Significant experience of designing residential layouts
  • Sketch-up
  • Photoshop
  • Revit not currently used in our office but potential to develop

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing team, leading the development and delivery of our marketing strategy. As a member of our senior management team, you will propose a marketing and communications strategy to achieve our business objectives and develop and implement an annual business plan to achieve key targets firm wide, and for each of our service lines. We are looking for positive impact on our brand profile and the quality of our client relationships.  We expect you to build a network of supportive commentators and influencers, and to deliver high quality marketing and communications output that directly contributes to our company growth plans.

In order to achieve this, we require a creative and talented Head of Marketing and Communications to deliver these key responsibilities:

  • Propose an integrated marketing and communications strategy that meets the needs of the whole RSL business and its service lines
  • Develop an annual business plan to deliver key targets in that strategy, aligned with the KPIs being pursued by each service line
  • Deliver that annual plan, including managing the budget, and reporting on progress against key metrics
  • Recruit, retain and manage a small internal and external team. This includes existing external PR and digital service providers and recruiting for an internal digital marketing/comms post. We use a small roster of other ad hoc external providers and have high quality internal design skills which are partly available for marketing and communications support.
  • Be a member of the senior management team, participating fully in meetings and discussions about the RSL business, ensuring marketing and communications is fully integrated across the business.  A key aspect of this is leading on how we deliver internal communications.
  • Originate and maintain key stakeholder relationships to enable successful marketing and communications delivery, working with other senior members of the team as appropriate.
  • Agree external communications plans with the PR agency and work closely with them to deliver meaningful impact within budget and closely aligned to target audiences.
  • Originate and deliver marketing and thought leadership campaigns for the whole business and individual service lines.
  • Develop and deliver strong digital marketing and communications presence.
  • Identify, secure and execute marketing activities. Currently this includes at least one landmark annual event e.g. Game Fair, Farm Business Innovation Show, etc; and a small number of ad hoc events and partnerships
  • Support our major emphasis on client relationship management, focussed on a small number of ‘show and tell’ bespoke events, backed by wider networking activity.
  • Analytics, data gathering and interpretation to report on key metrics for marketing and comms activities.
  • Ensure the business is compliant with regulatory requirements and good practice on data protection, marketing and other activity, and has the right tools and support systems to deliver effectively in marketing and communications.

Our Planning Team is expanding, and we are looking to recruit a Planner to join our Skipton team.

Our Planning Team work across a range of projects including residential, leisure, retail, regeneration and heritage work in primarily rural locations throughout the UK.

To succeed in this role you’ll need to be resourceful, flexible and ambitious and demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Planning research and analysis;
  • Client relationship management and excellent presentation skills;
  • Proven ability to manage workloads and priorities;
  • Competence and confidence to prepare various planning documents including planning statements and planning applications;
  • Ability to build good and effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and key business stakeholders;
  • RTPI accredited (desirable); and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our planning team is expanding, and we are looking to recruit RTPI accredited experienced Senior Planners in both of our offices. 

We are looking for a candidate that is commercially aware, has a proven track record in business development and has over five years post qualification experience working as a planner.

The successful candidate will be resourceful, flexible and ambitious and demonstrate experience in the following:

  • An excellent understanding of client relationship management;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • A proven ability to manage workload, budgets and project co-ordination;
  • A proven track record in business development and project delivery; and
  • Competence and confidence to deal with a range of planning disciplines.

Experience of working in a rural planning practice is not essential, but demonstration of an understanding of rural planning issues would benefit the candidate.

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic, budding digital marketer to join our creative marketing team.

This is a new role within the marketing team and will support our expanding requirement to promote our brand and services online as well as provide support to the marketing team in other activities throughout the year. This is an amazing opportunity for a candidate eager to take on a challenge and drive the digital marketing programme for a fast-growing business. You will be supported by the marketing co-ordinator and graphic designer who will provide clear direction through an agreed marketing activity plan and budget.

This role would suit a recent digital marketing graduate or someone with specific digital marketing skills.

Your role will include:

  • Looking after the SEO requirements for the website
  • Provide support updating and designing for the website through WordPress
  • Coordinate Google Ads and promoted posts
  • Working to co-ordinate a social media schedule across main channels – Facebook, Linked In, Instagram and Twitter
  • Create email campaigns through MailChimp as required
  • Create and design graphical elements for digital communications
  • Collect data and prepare reports to show results on social media engagement
  • Support the rest of the marketing team with the delivery of the marketing plan such as; planning for and attendance at industry shows and events, internal communications, brand communications, the production of podcasts/videos/brochures, client hospitality events, promotional item procurement.

We are currently seeking an Associate Director to join our planning team in Oxfordshire. We have a range of interesting and diverse rural development projects in this area and a growing pipeline of work across a variety of sectors and primarily within sensitive landscape and heritage settings. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wishes to be part of a growing team in a role with real autonomy where you can play an important part in shaping the growth of the team. An interest in landscape, heritage and design issued is important and an understanding of general planning principles and planning law is essential. The successful candidate will be RTPI qualified and will have considerable experience in the private or public sector. A focus on client care and project delivery is essential in addition to a flare for business development.

I’ve been working in the Planning Team at Rural Solutions for over eight years, starting as an Associate Planner and progressing to become an Associate Director.

Working in our Planning Team gives me the opportunity to work across a really broad range of projects ranging from stunning eco-houses to sensitive residential developments to great diversification projects.

The projects we work on are almost always unique and not ‘one size fits all’ so, as a Planner, there is a real opportunity to apply creativity and shape projects in a way that might not be possible elsewhere.
