Matt and Alex joined us from The Landscape Agency on 1st October 2018. Together, their experience in Landscape Architecture spans more than 30 years.

We are celebrating the first birthday of the Landscape Architecture team. We look back over the year so far and find out about some of their achievements.

Para 79 Experts

In the last 12 months, the landscape team have worked on six different Para 79 projects with another four in discussion.

In total, the landscape team have been involved in over 18 P79 projects, with some of them dating back to approvals under the previous Planning Policy Statement 7.

The team currently have a number of residential projects ranging in scale from new extensive gardens to a rural domestic farmstead up to large urban extensions for up to 1250 homes spread over 15-year build programme as well as working on various extensions to villages through a number of village masterplans to provide much needed housing, in particular affordable housing within rural areas.

The team have contributed to a number of innovative and exciting Day Visitor Attractions together with numerous other leisure facilities through the establishment of new or extensions to existing caravanning, glamping and campsites across the country.

Landscape Assessments

They have also carried out a number of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments across the UK to help support development within sensitive and highly designated landscapes.

Introducing Landscape Architecture as a service provided by Rural Solutions was a natural step to take. We recognised that significance of landscape architecture within our clients’ rural planning and design projects was critical to their success. The integration of the service to our existing teams meant we could provide clients with further value and greater impact and that has certainly been the case.

The success so far has been beyond what we could anticipate and therefore we were in the position sooner than we thought to see the appointment of Stuart Postlethwaite in August as Senior Landscape Architect.

Stuart joins us from Gillespie’s in, Leeds. He began his career at The Landscape Agency, York along with Alex and Matt so the team already have a great working relationship.

Stuart was keen to join Rural Solutions in order to work on a variety of local and wider rural landscape projects with a particular interest in Para 79 design, residential and visitor attractions.

I’m delighted to be working alongside such a dynamic team of planners, advisers, architects and landscape architects and look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and future RSL clients.

Stuart’s portfolio includes a variety of high profile landscape schemes, such as Wellington Place, Leeds, Warrington Time Square regeneration, The Look Out Children’s Education Centre Hyde Park, London, Waddesdon Manor Visitor Arrival and Tithe Barn Wedding Venue at Bolton Abbey. His technical experience combined with excellent concept design skills, and passion for place makes him an innovative designer of both public and private landscape.
