RSL VISIT TO AVON VALLEY FARM PARK AS PART OF THE NATIONAL FARM ATTRACTIONS NETWORK OPEN DAY
Recently, colleagues Dawn and Lisa visited to Avon Valley Farm Park as part of the National Farm Attractions Network Open Day, we thought it a timely opportunity to thank the hosts, and reflect on some of the learning from the event.
Doug and Hannah Douglas, the owner-operators of Avon Valley Farm park generously shared with us their warts and all account as farm park operators and organisers of one of the UK’s top Halloween attractions. The day covered everything from staffing to event planning and growth management, as well as indulging the willing audience with a sneak preview of their 2019 Halloween event. We can tell you, with the 2018 best Scream Park award firmly under their belts, they have gone all-out to ensure 2019 carries on terrifying where 2018 left off!
The daytime programme offered an insight into the life and lessons of a farm park operation that is undergoing a period of rapid expansion, with over 100% growth in visitor numbers year on year since the pair took over the running of the attraction from Doug’s father, six years ago. With a constantly evolving visitor experience, annual re-investment and ambitious growth plans, Avon Valley is certainly capitalising on its incredible market locality (they sit 15 minutes from the centre of Bristol to the West and 15 minutes from Bath to the East), and riding the wave of the current consumer trend of experiences over material possessions. The passion to reintegrate families with farming whilst also delivering a stellar day-out experience is something Doug and Hannah share with many of our current clients, who are looking to rural attractions as a mode of farm diversification.
If you would like to know more about this or how seasonal events may compliment your existing operation then please do contact us via our email@example.com address and we will be only too pleased to share some insight with you. If however, you are keen to see an example of how seasonal events can be transformative in terms of appeal, reach and profitability, we implore you to get a ticket while there are still some remaining. But be warned, take a friend, a good dose of bravery, and prepare to sleep with your lights on for a few nights afterwards!
Thanks to the National Farm Attractions Network, Doug, Hannah and all their staff for a fantastic day. We look forward to the next one already!
