News and views: Autumn 2024
By William Fry | 28.11.24
Welcome to our latest edition of A Different View. William and the team share their news and views, and reflect on how the rural sector will fare following changes to the budget.
It is fair to say that as we head towards the end of the year, we are in uncharted waters for business and the rural sector. With nearly 25 years in business in the rural world and having weathered macroeconomic events including the banking crisis and Brexit, I must say that the Autumn Budget will test us perhaps more than ever before. That said the rural sector is resilient, innovative, and entrepreneurial, and I am in no doubt that opportunity lies ahead.
Read our thinking on the budget, and the practical ways in which landowners can prepare for the changes. Tomorrow, we host a webinar where we will discuss the budget, policy matters, and most importantly opportunities for rural land, and business owners.
The team has been out and about at the Land Leisure & Tourism Show talking to delegates about nature tourism alongside Rewilding Britain. Regarding planning, our response to the Government’s consultation on the new National Planning Policy Framework is worth a read, as well as our article on how the Government’s new housing targets present opportunities for rural landowners.
We have had some notable successes in obtaining planning consent for new country homes this year. Our approach to the planning, design and project management of one-off country is shared in our philosophy and we are delighted to present a stunning recently completed project in a protected landscape.
We also look at Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn on the Chillington Estate which opened earlier this year and discuss placemaking through landscape design.
I hope you enjoy reading this edition of A Different View and as ever, if anything piques your interest and you would like to discuss your rural development and diversification ambitions please get in touch.
William
