Norfolk Local Plans Bulletin - Greater Norwich Local Plan

We are now well into the new year with a general election on the horizon. We have compiled local plan updates which we hope will provide clarity on the planning framework to guide important decisions. This update reports on the status of local plans in Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP), Norfolk.

GREATER NORWICH (BROADLAND, NORWICH AND SOUTH NORFOLK)

A new local Plan for Broadland, Norwich, and South Norfolk

The new Greater Norwich Local Plan will be adopted this spring.

Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council are working with Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council to prepare the Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP).

Last Autumn, the Greater Norwich Development Partnership invited responses on proposed Main Modifications to the GNLP. These were modifications that the inspectors considered necessary for the plan to be sound.

The final report from the inspectors on the GNLP is expected by mid-February with adoption scheduled for 29th March 2024.

A new Plan for Housing Allocations for the villages in South Norfolk

South Norfolk Village Clusters Housing Allocations Plan Consultation closes on Monday 5th February.

South Norfolk Council is currently consulting on alternative sites and focused changes in relation to the emerging Village Clusters Housing Allocations Plan (VCHAP).

The consultation relates to a small number of sites in the following villages:

  • Alpington,
  • Barford,
  • Barnham Broom,
  • Bawburgh,
  • Broome,
  • Ditchingham,
  • Earsham,
  • Gillingham,
  • Swardeston,
  • Spooner Row,
  • Tacolneston, and
  • Wicklewood.

The consultation runs until Monday 5th February 2024.
