About The Country Trust
For nearly half a century, The Country Trust has been a beacon of hope and learning for disadvantaged primary-aged children across England and North Wales. With a steadfast commitment to connecting food, health, and the environment, the Trust stands as the UK’s premier provider of immersive agricultural education. Their programmes are a lifeline in urban areas where poor diets and health issues are prevalent, underscoring the critical need for such initiatives.
The Country Trust’s team of outdoor education specialists work with wonderful farmer hosts to tailor make transformative experiences for primary school children and their teachers. These experiences are not just educational, they are gateways to new worlds. Children delve into the earth’s secrets through soil exploration, revel in the tranquillity of green spaces, savour the taste of fresh produce, forge bonds with animals, and learn the intricate dance of biodiversity.
In an era where climate challenges loom large, The Country Trust serves as a vital bridge between communities and the agricultural stewards of our land. Despite the trend towards indoor learning and the constraints of school budgets, the Trust’s vision is clear and ambitious: to engage 120,000 children each year by 2027 through their Farm, Food, and Residential Discovery programs. The demand from schools for these life-affirming experiences is unprecedented, and funding remains the sole barrier to fulfilling this mission.
The Country Trust’s Inaugural Online Charity Auction
This debut auction, running from 31 October to the 10 November 2024, promises to be a global spectacle.
The Trust’s President, the Duke of Westminster donated the first, very special auction lot setting the tone for an event that will captivate bidders at home and around the world.
The auction house Lacy Scott Knight and the leading bidding platform The Saleroom are generously waiving fees ensuring that every penny raised will be channelled directly into expanding the Trust’s Food and Farm Discovery programmes. LD Communications will spearhead the promotion of the auction, with the goal of drawing in new supporters and donations from diverse sectors.
An array of auction lots from celebrity memorabilia and sports VIP experiences, original artworks to private tours and behind-the-scenes glimpses are just a few of the highlights anticipated.
