This Lakeside Hotel is located within one of the most challenging and highly sensitive landscapes in the UK. The existing hotel complex is located within a national park and world heritage site, along with the gardens characterised from a heavily wooded setting which provided considerable constraints on any new design interventions. The wider garden setting containing remnants of a layout previously designed by Thomas Mawson, a famous British garden designer, landscape architect and town planner.
Rural Solutions were appointed to provide a wide range of design services from initial advice relating to landscape and visual impacts associated with a new bedroom block extension, development of new luxury spa facilities, new car parking, new tea house and jetty. This initial advice fed in to developing a site-wide landscape masterplan which illustrated how the new and existing elements could be combined sympathetically, which subsequently supported a successful planning application and led onto detailed design resolution to facilitate tender and construction.
