A rural roundup – 16th September

By Rural Solutions | 24.08.26

With the publication of the National Planning Policy Framework earlier this month, the Government’s programme of reforms to planning policy and the planning system are all but complete.

Together, these reforms represent the most significant shift in planning policy in over a decade, and for those with an interest in rural development, a particular set of opportunities have emerged.

Join us at 1 pm on Wednesday 16th September for a webinar where we will explain what has changed, and crucially what opportunities may now exist for development in rural locations.

Covering both opportunities for the development of homes and to support farming, diversification, and rural enterprise, we’ll explain what’s what and give you the chance to ask questions of our team.

We’ll focus on how to identify and act on these opportunities, explaining how the new planning framework establishes some important principles, including:

  • A greater range of sites within existing settlements now likely to be considered suitable for development.
  • Development outside of settlements may now be considered suitable in a wider range of circumstances.
  • Specific policies designed to enable the increased resilience of farm businesses.
